We’d like to invite you to a special KCNT1 Scientific Seminar with Matthew Weston, PhD, on June 4 from 10:30–11:30 AM ET.
Dr. Weston will present current KCNT1 research from his lab, including results from mice genetically engineered to carry the same gene variants found in individuals with KCNT1-related disorders. These models have helped clarify cell-type-specific and early developmental vulnerabilities related to KCNT1 gain of function and have contributed important preclinical data supporting the recently initiated KYRON clinical trial.
Dr. Weston is a member of the KCNT1 Scientific Advisory Board and an Associate Professor at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His laboratory studies the balance of excitation and inhibition in cortical circuits, with a focus on how disease-associated gene variants alter network activity, contribute to hyperexcitability and seizures, and ultimately lead to developmental and epileptic encephalopathies.
